10 Reasons Why it is Important to Conduct Regular Service Reviews

10 Reasons Why it is Important to Conduct Regular Service Reviews of Your IT Service Partners
By Ian Charles Summers

There are probably closer to 100 reasons why conducting regular service reviews of your IT service partners and suppliers is a good idea, but here are 10 of the most important.

1. Complacency: the trickle of money that can go out of an organization to pay for redundant IT service contracts that continue to be invoiced but are no longer of use, can turn into a stream when added together over a twelve-month period

2. Relevance: business demands and requirements are changing at a pace never seen before, certainly not within living memory. System tools that were state of the art a few years ago may well have been superseded by new, cheaper, more efficient processes.

3. Cost: why pay more for IT services when prices are going down. Competition following the credit crunch has never been fiercer. Now is the time to renegotiate service and IT contracts or cancel contracts and start again.

4. New technology: there is no stopping the boffins, the geeks, the IT wizards who keep producing more and more innovative technology. Just when you think that you've got the best and the latest, a new faster, sleeker, more efficient system comes on the market to revolutionize your system.

5. New software solutions: a service supplied by an IT service partner may now be able to be performed by new software, for a much cheaper price.

6. Skills: contracted-out IT services may have seemed like a good idea when systems were more complicated, but now it may be that money can be saved by bringing in-house, certain IT services.

7. Materials: sourcing materials from one IT supplier can prevent competition. It is easy for staff to spend the company's money on expensive materials simply because of a long-standing account or agreement. Shop around for discounts and better deals from other IT material suppliers.

8. Utilities: the power source is not something that is often taken into account but choosing the right supplier and being prepared to switch can make a big difference to the overall running costs of your IT services.

9. Security: following the introduction of a new security set up it may be the time to take a look at your IT service partners. Hackers are still the main enemy for an organization but sometimes breaches in security can be as a result of known third parties.

10. Because you should: every business has masses amounts of computing power and the level of waste through unnecessary applications is colossal. As per Reviews Site, A regular audit of internal and external IT service partners will help to increase efficiency and reduce running costs through natural wastage of out of date IT services and systems.

The Brain and How We Learn

By Mary Kuebler

Sleep - What is its importance?

You might be surprised to learn that when we are awake there's a section of the brain that wants us to sleep and when we are asleep there's a section of the brain that wants us to be awake. We understand that we learn when we are awake; however, did you know that when we sleep we are still learning.

Ilchi lee writes, our brain plays reruns of what we learned during the day thousands and thousands of times during our sleeping hours. We grasp the concept that we are less effective without sleep. There is a loss of working memory, we have mood swings, our reasoning is altered, our motor skills and responses change in a negative manner. It is not determined the amount of sleep that each individual requires. Many factors such as our age and our gender need to be taken into account. Research shows that about mid-day or around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, we flat line, which is about mid point from your sleeping time and your waking time.A short nap can positively affect productivity.

Exercise

We talk about the brain and the body are two separate entities. They are not. We know that the body needs exercise. Then why do we not stop to recognize that exercise is additionally important to development and learning for the brain? Exercise diminishes the risks for dementia, it reduces stress, it will enhance problem solving skills and it promotes skills necessary for attention. Research additionally demonstrates that people who exercise out will out-perform couch potatoes every time. When exercise ceases, brain function is lessened.

Years ago we were more active physically. We have now become sedimentary. With technological improvements we sit more than ever.

What happens when we move? Why is cognition increased? The answer is really quite obvious. Exercise improves the oxygen flow to all parts of the body, including the brain, which directly leads to mental alertness. The molecular structure of the brain is impacted in a positive manner. Thirty minutes of aerobic exercises, even just two times per week increases the brains productivity much more effectively than weight lifting exercises alone. The brain additionally requires glucose.

It takes as much oxygen from food as possible. We need extra blood vessels to get more oxygen. The way that we get more blood vessels is to increase exercise. Exercise is like Miracle Grow for the brain. There are so many benefits from exercise. It reduces the risk factors for diabetes, it supports memory formation, it strengthens muscles and bones, it helps to control appetite, it aides to improve fluid intelligence, it reduces heart disease and it helps to minimize depression. As always before beginning any exercise regimen see your doctor. The brain craves exercise. So, what are you waiting for?

Why is the brain so complex?

Some scientists believe that our ancestors walked on all fours. If their theory is correct, it was through evolution that we began to walk upright in order that we could function more efficiently. While this freed up our hands, we were no longer building up as many of our muscles. Instead, we were building up our brains. The brain is centered around survival. Because we were in the great outdoors and encountering many dangers, the brain adapted and evolved over time.

Mr. Ilchi as a teacher says, I am often reaching out to students to help them feel a sense of pride in regards to their thinking abilities. Athletes are celebrated. Brainiacs are often squelched. Students need to become aware that it is not the strongest body that survives; it is the strongest brain which survives. Humans have never been the strongest physically among the creatures; however, they have the strongest brains. As the climate changed over time, only those with the strongest brains adapted and survived.

It is important to brain development to feel safe. As an educator I see this often. A student is stressed over a test and they do not perform to potential, which is why I work very hard to create an environment where my students feel safe. This is a focus right from the beginning of the year.

Information overload

With cell phones, emails and texting going on in vehicles, there have been an increasing amount of automobile accidents. That is because the brain is not set up for such multi-tasking. The brain has to turn away from one focus for a few seconds to perform another task. Even a fraction of second can make the difference if we need to stop suddenly. Were you aware that statistically texting and the use of cell phones has been shown to be more dangerous than driving with excessive alcohol in our systems.

Education

Unfortunately, the classroom environment has not caught up with the research. Students are still being expected to sit for long periods of time. This is true even though we are becoming increasingly aware of the need for movement. We also know now that each of us have the ability to pay attention for a mere ten minutes at a time. Beyond that the presenter must do something to get the attention of his or her audience. Yet, we often have long lectures structured in the school day. Our brains ignore boring information. It is because our experiences tell us what we should pay attention to, which is why cultural influences our decisions also. It is simply the way our brain is structured. Thus, if we expect our students to pay attention, we need to incorporate movement or music into our day every ten minutes or so.

Our brains forget 90 percent of what is learned within 45 days. It is what happens in the first few seconds that will determine whether we will remember it or not. The human brain is only able to retain seven bits of information for thirty seconds or less. The only way to remember something longer is repetition.

We have several forms of memory. We have automatic memory, which encompasses events that will be recalled even if it is not repeated. Then we have effort processing. This is something that we determine that we want to remember and we repeat it a number of times in order that we might recall it at a later time. We also have working memory. This is memory that will remain with us for a period of time while we need it. It later becomes information that is lost to us. We also have long term memory which is information that we commit to memory through repetition. This is why educators know that spiral education is important.

Career Opportunities As a Teacher in the UK
By Louise G

Teaching is one of the most noble professions that one could choose. The hunt for one of these jobs however can be quite an ordeal. Using a website known as TES Connect to search the entire United Kingdom; only 7 matches turned up in the field of education. This is not to suggest that their are only 7 education jobs available in the country obviously, but it does show the difficulty associated with landing one of these jobs.

Some of the matches found on this site include a job as the Head of the College of Education at Cirencester College in Gloucestershire and a job as a tutor in teacher education in Manchester. The skill required for these different careers vary widely, as do the compensation levels. The salaries of the 7 matches found ranged from 24,000 pounds to 75,000 pounds. Pakistan Newspaper Jobs

It should be noted that recent action by parliament has placed a pay hike for teachers on hold for the time being. These pay hike freezes have not stopped many people from entering the field, in fact in the last year the number of people entering the field has increased by 34 percent. The reason for the increase is believed to be from the effects of the recession. People are running into fields like education in the hopes of more job security.

Some people have questions about the education profession, because at times it is a complex profession and can be very stressful. The current amount of teachers signed off with stress is quite high resulting in the opportunity for supply teaching throughout the UK. This option is certainly a good starting point for any teacher and may result in a full time position being offered.

With an influx in citizens looking for work due to the recession, many are wondering if they are too old to teach. While the individual schools make choices about retirement practices, there are many teachers who are well above the age of 50. As with any job, many want to know what the minimum income level is. In the United Kingdom the minimum a teacher can be paid is 20,627 pounds per year, and that number is 25,000 pounds for those teaching in inner London. To Know More Visit Pakistan Newspaper Jobs

How We Can Use A Pen For Self-Defense

Martial Arts Training - Using a Pen For Self-Defense
By Jeffrey Miller

One of the biggest problems with most martial arts training programs, is the tendency to limit yourself to only learning the "official" weapons of your chosen style. The alternative is to borrow the Ninja's ability to see beyond the form of any particular weapon, and recognize the truth that anything can be pressed into service as a weapon, and an aid for your own personal defense.

This article explores the concept of using an ordinary ballpoint pen as a self defense weapon. Of course, you can feel free to substitute a pencil, marker, or any other item that is of similar shape and size.

One of the reasons for learning to use a pen for self defense is that they are so readily available. And, for most people, they either carry or have access to at least one throughout the course of a normal workday. This availability factor makes the pen an excellent choice.

Of course, it's "common-ness" also makes it virtually invisible to everyone - including your attacker - who only think of obvious weapons like guns, knives, clubs, etc.

As a place to begin your training and understanding of how to use a simple pen as a powerful self defense weapon, the following tactics are offered as examples of how effective this weapon can be in a real-world self-protection situation.

"There in a pinch" - The small size and natural shape of a pen makes it easy to manipulate in your hand. It's also not necessary to conform your hand to the weapon, as you have to do with other weapons such as a firearm.

That being said, you can hold the pen in your hand so that you can apply pain techniques by pinching his skin between your thumb and the shaft of your new favorite weapon. The ears, lips, and the thin, sensitive skin on the inside of the upper arms and the sides of the neck make perfect targets for this "sneaky little Ninja technique!"

"Getting your point across" - By gripping the shaft of the pen, and holding it like a spike or dagger, allows you to jab and stab. You can also hold the pen as you would for the pinching techniques above - allowing you to stab and snag whatever parts of his body get close enough for you to take advantage of.

"Mightier than the sword" - In today's world, carrying a sword might cause you to stand out in a crowd. Do you agree?

But, we can still borrow some lessons and uses of the warrior's most prized weapon and apply them using the pen. This concept will, except in very rare instances, completely confuse and overwhelm your assailant.

How I Protect Myself And My Family

Personal Responsibility:

Personal safety is responsibility our every person. We believe there is a cop around every corner, but that is not the reality of most situations. We are living in crazy world. So it is our responsibility to protect our self and others.
How to protect our self:
The first thing you need to learn is to be aware at all times of where you are at, when you are walking or running never use mp3 player or cell phone . If you need to talk on the phone then keep it short. Don't put your back to any direction that could let an attacker attack you from behind.
How to Get Into Cars:
In most cases women have a trend when they get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., They just sit (doing their checking of things they are carry or making a list etc) it is wrong! May some predator will be watching you, this is great opportunity for him to get in on the door side, put a gun to your skull, and tell you where to go. I advice you as soon as you get into your car, lock the doors and leave.
While Car Parking:
When you are getting your car in parking garage or parking place: Be aware! Look around you; look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. Enter your car from the passenger door. Be careful when you parking your car near big van, most killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars. Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle. Give preference take the elevator instead of the stairs. It is because could be perfect crime spot, Bee careful! Especially at night.
How to Protecting Yourself
A few things that every person should keep into car: Perfume (Perfume could be use to spraying in the eyes of attacker); a ball point pen (can be used to stab attacker). He will be looking for things you can attack him with, but a pen looks normal and he won't think you will use it.
Rip attacker face with your keys and then kick him where it counts or just bring your knee up.
The elbow is the strongest point on your body. Use it if you are closer to attacker. The most sensitive area of attacker is the solar plexus, eyes, nose, and groin.
Sing! This is not the time to be a lady scream, kick, hit, bite, pull hair. Always be prepared to run and if you have to hit him when he is down to keep him down.
If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, do not hand it to him. Toss it away from you. Chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. Run like mad in the other direction! This goes for your car keys also.
